Two Coaches.

One Family.

How Apex Elite became Tampa Bay's most talked about small fitness community — built on two elite coaches, one Instagram, and a room where everyone belongs.

Two Elite Coaches.
One Mission.

Most fitness brands scale by hiring. Apex Elite scaled by refusing to. There are two coaches — and only two — and that is the point.

On Instagram, Apex Elite's bio contains exactly six words that explain the whole operation: 2 Elite Trainers | 1 Mission. In a fitness industry that measures success in franchise locations and roster size, that restraint is almost radical. Behind the handle @__apexelite__ are two coaches — Shamaira Gonzalez, the nationally ranked strongman athlete behind LaBella Beast, and Malcolm “Mac” Foster, the NPTI certified coach behind Foster Physique. There is no third seat. There is no plan for one.

Why two is the point

When Gulf & Grit asked Gonzalez and Foster why they capped Apex Elite at two coaches, they gave the same answer twice, in different words. “When you scale a coaching brand, the first thing that dies is the coaching,” Foster said. “I've seen it happen. I'm not doing it.” Gonzalez put it in her language: “Every person in my Apex family knows me by name. If I add a third trainer, I've broken a promise I made when I started.”

The math is simple. Two coaches means every athlete who books an Apex session — bootcamp or private — trains under a coach with real competition and playing history, not a rotating floor employee. It means the person who wrote your program also spots your lift. It means when you show up on a Wednesday, they know why last Wednesday hurt.

The Instagram is the front door

@__apexelite__ has 3,296 followers, 214 posts, and — according to its own professional dashboard — pulled 291,600 views in the last thirty days. Those aren't influencer numbers. They're the numbers of a community that talks about its people. The bio link, fosterphysique.app/bootcamps/apex, drops straight into the next session signup: 2409 East 2nd Avenue, Tampa, Florida. No membership. No contract. $20 drop in.

We're not building a franchise. We're building a family. Two coaches is not a limit. It's a promise.Shamaira Gonzalez & Mac Foster · Apex Elite

Feature · Certified Coaching

Certified. Elite.
And Actually Local.

In an industry crowded with unqualified influencers, Apex Elite's coaches lead with credentials — and with the receipts to back them up.

A Gulf & Grit feature · Reported in Apollo Beach

“Certified personal trainer” has become one of the least meaningful phrases in fitness. Apex Elite treats it as the floor, not the ceiling. Gonzalez is a certified personal trainer with a postpartum and pelvic health focus and a competition record that includes a first place finish at the USS Tampa Bay Classic, a fourth at USS Nationals, and an invitation to USS Pro Woman Worlds inside her first year in strongman. Foster is NPTI certified out of the National Personal Training Institute in Tampa, with twelve years of coaching behind him and three and a half years of kinesiology study at the University of Kentucky before he decided the gym floor was where he belonged.

What “elite” actually means here

Elite, in this room, doesn't mean exclusive. Apex bootcamps are $20 drop ins with no membership and no contract. Beginners are the target audience, not the exception. The elite part is the coaching: strongman tested strength and pelvic health focused programming on one side, NPTI certified physique and athletic development on the other, standing in the same room, watching the same reps.

Coaches who also live here

Both coaches live and train where their clients do — Apollo Beach, south Hillsborough, greater Tampa Bay. Foster's private studio sits inside a luxury apartment community in 33572. Gonzalez writes every client's week from a home gym she built in the same zip code. When a client's plan calls for a specific field, a specific pool, a specific court, both coaches know the venue by name because they've trained there themselves.

Certifications get you in the door. Community keeps you in the room.Mac Foster · Foster Physique

Feature · Train Anywhere

Apollo Beach in Person.
Everywhere Else, Online.
Same Standard.

The community lives on the ground in Tampa Bay. The coaching travels anywhere there's a phone.

A Gulf & Grit feature · Reported on the Apex Elite online program

Ask Apex Elite's clients where they train and half will say Apollo Beach and half will say “in my kitchen at 5 AM before work.” The brand's private and group work runs out of Tampa Bay — the Tampa 2409 East 2nd Avenue address, the Apollo Beach 1 on 1 studio, the Riverview Karma Fitness collaboration — but its coaching reaches Michigan, Georgia, New York, and Puerto Rico through structured online programming.

One platform. Two coaches. Your choice.

Online athletes pick the coach whose lane fits: Gonzalez for women, moms in any season, pelvic health forward strength, or youth athlete development; Foster for physique recomposition, athletic performance, or accountability heavy programming. Both build custom plans, set macros personally, and adjust week to week. Nothing about the online experience is an app template.

Same standard, every zip code

“The mistake most coaches make with online is treating it as a lesser product,” Gonzalez says. “The online athlete gets the same programming standard the in person athlete gets. Different delivery, same coach, same standard.” Foster runs the same four stage system online that he runs in person: Diagnose, Architect, Execute, Transcend.
